50 years ago today...
Pilot Ralph Flores and his passenger, Helen Klaben, were rescued,
49 days after their plane crashed in northern British Columbia.
Robbie Fulks, American country singer was born
The United States made the decision to support the return of civilian rule in Korea.
Okay, if you can't tell, I was really digging there. 50 years today {to the internet} was just a normal ol' day. March 25, 1963 came and went with no big calamity, no big celebrity was born or died. Humanity didn't accomplish a space mission, and we didn't end a war.
But, 50 years ago today, Madelyn and James Starley had their last little girl. Perfect, crying, smooshed and all.
As this little girl grew up she became a protector of her little brother and adored by her older sisters and brother. All the older girls would play school, and nurse, and any other sort of games they could with a cute little sister as their patient/student.
When high school came around she found herself in the middle of the social fun. She was a cheerleader {star or not}, high school royalty, and dated {very} often. She even modeled.

There was even a confusion of who's baby was who's,
but Madelyn figured it all out by that little smooshed nose.

Her sister Lynda closest in age said, "When she was 4 or 5, she loved to mix crate paper in water and make different colors. I shared a bedroom with her at that time and she was a super creative, athletic girl. She always had a ton of spunk and could outrun any of the guys. When I was in college, I lived at home and she was just a junior high kid--but I listened to her and did stuff with her. If she told me something looked ugly--I listened and followed her fashion tips. I adore [her] and think she is one of the most talented, giving people whoever lived on this earth. She will always be younger--but in many ways so much wiser than I am."
But lets not be mistaken. This little girl was not a pink-and-bows type of girl. In her teen years she was a tom-boy. She had long skinny legs and a little brother who needed some protecting. So she had her bold moments of which she is very proud of.
Her mama said her favorite memory of this little one was, "Playing ball with our ward softball team. She was a good pitcher, but one time a poor girl got hit in the face. Running a race on the beach in CA with Brent who was running backward. Sue's daddy loved to see her with a baseball cap on. In Jr. Hi she was so darling in Mr. Elison's plays, where she sang, acted and did all the posters advertising them. In Hi school She sang so beautifully in the A Capella choir. (Never forget a duet she sang with Kim Anderson. At BYU she sang "New York, New York" for a Young tryout that was unbelievably beautiful."

When she moved on in life to college she went down the road from home to BYU. She dated lots of guys but as soon Keith rolled in, she kind of knew and let her date number end there at 100.
They were married in June and this not-so-little girl soon had 2 little girls that she traveled all over the world with for her cute golfer hubby {or "boyfriend" as she liked(s) to call him}
After large amounts of traveling with two growing girls and now a big little boy and a baby girl the trips slowed down for her and she put her elementary education degree with a minor in art to good use.
She always had something cute for her kids, from art projects to teaching them scripture stories. She was the stereotypical and perfect Mommy to her kiddos. She was even the primary president. The perfect calling for our March baby.
She was good at disciplining, threatening to bring out the metal spatula that'll "leave blisters" when food wasn't finished by her not-so-eager-to-eat children. And also good at handling the defiant big-little boy who would laugh during his punishments.
She was patient as children came home with bad grades, but always required more out of them. She was always willing to help them with assignments, but required them to do it, and she just embellish.
Soon all her babies were growing up and moving on with their lives. They went to college missions, some got married and are now having their own little babies. No longer the baby girl with a smooshed nose, Nona arose to make sure those grand babies were fed. And fed and fed. And then a little more fed, just to be safe.
Then it came time in her life to move away from her beloved town that she was raised in. It was time to begin traveling again and enjoying being that cute young couple again. So, the Nona and Keith got all their stuff and headed out leaving all worries behind...
From, little tom-boy, to intelligent babe, to creative patient and strong mommy, and loving Nona this girl has done it all. And I couldn't be more grateful to be her little baby girl.
